May 14, 2009 Peter Balakian spoke on his new book, "Armenian Golgotha," in Kreider Hall, 12-1 PM, an event organized by GCC ASA in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves.
May 6, 2009 "From Local to Presidential Campaigns: Armenians Behind the Scenes," panel discussion with 8 campaign staff and moderated by Glendale City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian, 6:30-9 PM, in Student Center 212.

April 22, 2009 The ASA's Annual Genocide Commemoration took place in Vaquero. In addition to the ASA's large display of educational material in Plaza Vaquero, Father Vazken, invited by GCC Association Students, spoke in the Auditorium 12-1 PM.

April 23, 2007 Turkish historian Taner Akcam was the special speaker for the
ASA's 2nd event in commemoration of the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.  Over 200 students, faculty and staff heard Dr. Akcam's presentation on his new book, "A Shameful Act."
April 12, 2007 16th General Membership Meeting. Investigative journalist Edik Baghdasaryan showed a powerful and moving video and spoke on the plight of the homeless in Armenia and Karabagh and on conditions Kashatagh.
April 5, 2007 16th General Membership Meeting. ASA members participated in a survey on college student attitudes toward major social issues.  Viewed video of the previous week's culture day event.
April 3, 2007 Commemoration of the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Plaza Vaquero.  Annual outdoor exhibit of the GCC ASA's ever-growing collection of displays, maps, posters, with music appropriate for the occasion.
March 29, 2007 Annual Armenian Culture Day in Plaza Vaquero, from 10 am to 2 pm, with 15 tables displaying art including original paintings by Arpine Shakhbandarian, history, church architecture, books, Khorovadz lunch, and music by Arutyun Chiroghlyan and dancing with master dance instructor Tom Bozigian.

Dec. 7, 2006 10th General Membership Meeting.  Remembered the 18th anniversary of the earthquake in Armenia, by viewing one of the news reports that Janet Janjigian, currently an MGM Executive, produced in 1988.
Nov. 30, 2006 9th General Membership Meeting.  Viewed clips of "Screamers" and urged members to encourage everyone to attend the upcoming screening.  Discussed the 2007 Study Abroad in Armenia program and viewed the DVD of the 2005 program.

Nov. 1, 2006 7th General Membership Meeting. Guest Speaker Greg Krikorian, Member of the GUSD Board, discussed "Current Challenges as We Approach 100 Years of Denial" and presented video clips of Turkish denials of the Armenian Genocide.
Oct. 26, 2006 6th General Membership Meeting. Discussion of October 1999 news coverage of the assassination of government officials in the Armenian Parliament.  Guest speakers and discussion of culture day and other upcoming events.
Oct. 19, 2006 5th General Membership Meeting.  Guest speaker Ara Manoogian from Armenia, co-author, along with Edig Baghdassarian, of "Desert Nights," had a video presentation and discussion on the tragedy of human trafficking in Armenia.  Approximately 90 members attended.

June 15, 2006 Annual End-of-Year Picnic at Verdugo Park
June 1, 2006 19th General Membership Meeting.  Election day, and the last General Membership Meeting of the academic year. The new Executive Body was elected, followed by a discussion of the annual year-end picnic to be held on June 15 at Verdugo Park.
May 25, 2006 18th General Membership Meeting.  The candidates for the June 1 Executive Body Election made brief statements on why members should vote for them.  This was followed by a viewing and discussion of the Turkish and Armenian performances and the voting at the Eurovision music finals.
May 18, 2006 17th General Membership Meeting.  More nominations were accepted for the Executive Body election and nominations were closed. Viewed videos of the 2005 GCC Study Abroad in Armenia program and announced the Study Abroad program for 2007.
May 11, 2006 16th General Membership Meeting. The Upcoming Executive Body Election was discussed and candidates were nominated.  Viewed news coverage of the Armavia airplane crash and discussed the recent death of a 19 year old Armenian caused by speeding.
May 4, 2006 Instead of having the regular membership meeting on May 4, the ASA participated in the IOC Olympics in Plaza Vaquero.  
April 27, 2006 15th General Membership Meeting.  Discussed the Genocide commemoration on campus and viewed TV news reports of other events in Southern California and Armenia.
April 25, 2006 Commemoration of the 91st Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on in, Plaza Vaquero, 10 AM to 2  PM.  The annual event included 15 tables filled with the ASA's unique display of posters, photos, maps, books, NY Times news reports, & other documentation of the destruction of the nation.  From 12-2 PM, there was a  program with speakers & appropriate musical selections.
April 13, 2006 14th General Membership Meeting.  Discussion of plans for the upcoming Genocide event and signing up additional volunteers, video of previous ASA genocide events on campus, video of protest demonstration against the Turkish Defense Minister at the Beverly Hills Hotel, video and discussion of two well-known genocide deniers--including "Mr. Fish!"
April 6, 2006 13th General Membership Meeting.  Discussion of plans for upcoming Armenian Genocide event.  Signed up volunteers to help organize the event.
Video and discussion of the destruction of khachkars in Nakhichevan.
Viewing and discussion of Armenia's entry in the EuroVision music video contest.
March 30, 2006 12th General Membership Meeting. A spokesperson from Paul Krekorian's State Assembly campaign committee discusses the campaign and asked for volunteers.  The main agenda item was an animation Presentation by guest speakers Hayk Manukyan and Henri Hovanessyan from HayasaPictures.Com, famous for "Van O Van" and other original animations with Armenian themes.
March 23, 2006 Instead of the regular General Membership Meeting, gathered in Plaza Vaquero to hear a rap music performance by "R-Mean."
March 16, 2006 11th General Membership Meeting.  Discussion of petition to PBS regarding the panel to be shown following "The Armenian Genocide" documentary, with guest speaker Appo Jabarian, Editor of Armenian Life USA.

Annual Armenian Culture Day in Plaza Vaquero, which included 16 tables adorned with photographs, drawings, maps, books, & artifacts, plus several works by a young talent, Arpine Shakhbandaryan from USC--and a delicious khorovadz lunch along with music and dancing.

Oct. 27, 2005 6th General Membership Meeting.  Over 60 members and guests participated with speaker Stepan Partamian in a lively debate about relationships among today's youth--with Stepan offering his provocative opinions regarding love and respect, wealth and status, family and community pressures.
Oct. 25, 2005 The drawing for the Friends of Glendale College Foundation Fundraising Raffle was held on October 25.  The GCC ASA participated in this worthy cause and with the slogan, "Win a Kia Sportage and Support Your College," several ASA members and Faculty Advisor Dr. Marashlian sold $1,280 worth of tickets.  Funds raised will support student services and programs, which benefit thousands of Armenian students on campus. 
Oct. 13, 2005 Pontifical visit of Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia. Approximately 200 ASA members and guests had a unique opportunity to meet with Aram I, Chatholicos of the Great House of Cilicia at a special student forum organized by GCC ASA and six other Armenian student associations. Among the guests who attended the unprecedented event for GCC were GCC President Dr. John Davitt, Vice President Prof. Steve White, Board Members Dr. Armine Hacopian, Dr. Vahe Peroomian & Glendale City Councilman Ara Najarian.
Oct. 13, 2005 5th General Membership Meeting. Discussion of upcoming pontifical visit to GCC and "What it Means to you be Armenian."
Oct. 6, 2005 4th General Membership Meeting. Applications for committee chairs accepted, followed by a video showing and discussion of diversity within the Armenian community.
Sept. 29, 2005 3rd General Membership Meeting. Introduction of committees, followed by a video showing and discussion of "Love or Money?"
Sept. 22, 2005 2nd General Membership Meeting. Armenian Independence Day observed, with a video presentation of news reports on Armenia and Artsakh from 1988 to 1991 and a lively interactive discussion of Armenia's independence and current condition
Sept. 19-22 2005 Club Rush Week, ASA has two tables, 65 new members sign up.
Sept. 15, 2005 1st General Membership Meeting of the academic year. The previous and current Executives introduced themselves and the ASA to the 41 previous and prospective members who were present, followed by a screening of "30 Years in 30 Minutes."

April 21, 2005 Outdoor commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Plaza Vaquero. 
April 7, 2005 Dr. Taner Akcam, the first Turkish historian to openly acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, spoke to a standing-room only audience over 200 students, faculty, administrators and others, in SC 212.
March 31, 2005 13th General Membership Meeting.
March 24, 2005 12th General Membership Meeting.  Presentation by Armenian American Peace Officers Association, on the benefits of a career in law enforcement, followed by a lively discussion of dating, love, Armenianism, intermarriage, and assimilation.

11th General Membership Meeting. Committee Chairs and members discussed their operations, followed by a screening of the music video on the history of the ASA, "30 Years in 30 Minutes."

March 10, 2005 Outdoor lunch fundraising event in Plaza Vaquero from 11 AM to 2 PM.
March 3, 2005 10th General Membership Meeting. Seven candidates in the upcoming Glendale City Elections, running for City Council, City Clerk, and Board of Education spoke to members and guests about their campaigns. (Due to the large number of candidates, the screening of the music-video on the history of the GCC ASA was postponed.
Feb. 24, 2005 9th General Membership Meeting (first meeting of Spring Semester). Guest Speaker from Hye Shakarn presented the  organization's humanitarian program for diabetics. Afterwards, a specially prepared music-video about the GCC Study Abroad Program in Armenia was shown.
Dec. 2, 2004 8th General Membership Meeting. Special Guest Stepan Partamian, television talk show host and art and social critic, leads a stimulating exchange of views regarding major issues in the community.
Nov. 18, 2004 Basketball Tournament Victory Celebration from 6 PM to midnight in the Student Conference Center. Award presentation for the team members, video montage of all three games the team won, plus food, music and dancing.
Nov. 18, 2004 7th General Membership Meeting. Video of the latest tournament game won by the ASA Basketball Team. Various announcements, preparations for the upcoming Basketball Tournament Victory Celebration scheduled for the same evening.
Nov. 4, 2004 6th General Membership Meeting. UCLA ASA President Raffi Kassabian is present as a guest. Video of the Save Our Classes Championship game is shown and the victorious ASA Team members are applauded.
Nov. 2, 2004 ASA Basketball Team defeats the IT/Admissions Team in the final Save Our Classes game--the first time a student team has defeated faculty and staff. The ASA now holds the Championship Trophy!

Oct. 26, 2004 Annual Armenian Culture Day in Plaza Vaquero, a successful fundraiser with cultural displays, artifacts, books, newspapers, food, music, and dance performance by three lovely young women.
Oct. 21, 2004 4th General Membership Meeting, featuring a fireman from the Glendale Fire Department speaking about careers as a fire fighter. Also, video of the Oct. 19 basketball victory is shown, as well as video of last year's Armenian Culture Day. Last-minute information regarding the upcoming Culture Day on Oct. 26.
Oct. 19, 2004 ASA Basketball Team defeats Scholars, in the 4th game of the "Save Our Classes" Tournement. The same day, the ASA had a booth during "Octoberfest."

Oct. 7, 2004 ASA Basketball Team defeats OLHE 59 to 23, in the 2nd game of the "Save Our Classes" Tournement.
